Direct-view imaging systems include active infrared imaging systems and low-light imaging systems. They consist of an objective lens group, an image tube and an eyepiece group, and the human eye observes the target image on the fluorescent screen of the image tube through the objective lens. Intervision imaging system is to directly observe the target image on the silver light screen of the monitor with the human eye. Such systems include low-light television systems and thermal imaging systems. The optical system of the low-light-level television system is mainly the low-light-level imaging objective lens; the optical system of the thermal imaging system includes the scanning optical system and the relay optical system in addition to the infrared imaging objective lens.

No matter what kind of imaging system must have the corresponding optical system to image the scene on the photoelectric receiver, so the optical system is an important part of the whole imaging system.
